Insertion loss and TTE of SAW filter using 3-transducer configuration
Abstract
A description is given of surface acoustic wave filters with a three-transducer configuration, taking into account two interdigital transducers (IDT) which are arranged symmetrically on both sides of a central IDT. Low loss and good triple-transit effect (TTE) can be obtained by matching the center transducer of such a device to the external network. TV-IF filter of this type were found to have an insertion loss with a value of less than 12 dB. LiTaO3, LiNbO3, and three thin ZnO films of different thickness were tested as substrates. Attention is given to the reflection characteristics of the central IDT, the reflection characteristics of the side transducers, the TTE characteristics of the three-transducer configuration, and experimental studies.
