Self-complementary monopole-notch array antennas
Abstract
The radiation characteristics of the self-complementary monopole-notch antenna are determined and the array structure with wideband constant gain characteristics of this antenna is evaluated. An analysis of a monopole-notch antenna created on the edge of an ideal semi-infinite conducting plane shows that the antenna possesses wideband radiation characteristics. The induced e.m.f. method is then used to analyze a more practical monopole-notch antenna created on a finite conducting plate. It is shown that the gain is higher for the structure with a longer edge in the main beam direction. In addition, it is found that an antenna with constant impedance and constant gain characteristics can be obtained by setting up a monopole-notch array on a triangular conducting plate. The experimental results confirm the validity of the theoretical analysis.
