Millimeter-wave radar technology
Abstract
It is noted that millimeter waves are increasingly important in both civil and military radar applications in view of the advantages they offer over the conventional microwave frequency band. These advantages include broad bandwidths, high spatial and frequency resolution, low probability of interference or interception, and small antenna and system size. Their ability to penetrate clouds, smoke, dust, and fog makes them a logical choice over electrooptical systems for applications in adverse weather or in combination with the latter for multifunction systems.
