Analysis of turbulent gas jets
Abstract
A method for the analysis of variable-density jets is developed which uses integral conditions of momentum and enthalpy conservation; the cross-section parameters are described by Schlichting profiles. An empirical equation for the jet expansion coefficient is obtained to determine parameters along the jet. For the main section of the nozzle the expansion coefficient varied along the jet and became equal to the jet expansion coefficient for an incompressible fluid at significant distances from the nozzle. Theoretical results were in good agreement with experimental data.
