Applications of rep-ratable mass accelerators /such as MAID/
Abstract
Potential applications of mass accelerators which could be repeatedly fired with high repetition rates, such as mass accelerators using imploded discharges or traveling magnetic wave accelerators, are briefly reviewed. Applications discussed include impact fusion, generation of strong magnetic fields (greater than 10 to the 7th Gauss), radioactive waste disposal in space, production of useful materials, such as industrial diamond dust, formed under pressures of about 10 to the 12th dynes/sq cm, and application to surveys of surface element composition from spectral emission generated by projectile impact.
