Studies on radio duct occurrence and properties
Abstract
The radio duct properties that must be clarified in order to estimate radio system design propagation characteristics are analyzed by means of aerological data gathered at six typical stations in Japan over a period of seven years, as well as meteorological data gathered near the ground by balloons or towers. The radio refractivity characteristics obtained are then compared with duct occurrence probability and fading occurrence probability, making possible a quantitative evaluation.
