Single-mode operation in a 492.4 nm He-Zn II laser using natural zinc
Abstract
A single-mode operation at the 492.4 nm line of natural zinc has been achieved experimentally in a He-Zn II hollow-cathode laser excited by rectangular pulse discharge current. An implementation using a laser cavity with an internal mode selector is described. Provided the frequency of the proposed laser is stabilized by some techniques, its application could be as numerous as those of a He-Ne laser.
