Fluid flow and heat transfer in the separated region of a circular cylinder with wake control
Abstract
In the range of the subcritical Reynolds number, wake control of a circular cylinder was performed by setting up two small cylinders inside the separated shear layers from the cylinder. The characteristics of the flow and the heat transfer around the cylinder were investigated. The heat transfer coefficients of the rear surface of the cylinder with and without wake control can be given by the value of the rms pressure fluctuations near the separation point, delta p sub s. A new factor, delta p sub s, dominating the heat transfer is related to the heat transfer coefficient and free stream velocity.
