Radiation patterns in far field from two H-plane coupled rectangular microstrip antennas
Abstract
Krowne and Sindoris (1980, 1981) have studied mutual coupling between rectangular microstrip antenna patches for H-plane alignment. However, these investigations did not include a calculation of the radiation pattern. The present investigation is therefore concerned with a determination of the radiation pattern in the far field. An outline is presented of a theoretical method for the determination of mutual coupling in the case of two rectangular microstrip antenna patches in H-plane alignment. Numerical results in the form of radiation patterns are provided. These results demonstrate that mutual coupling causes pattern distortion and magnitude changes which are substantial and can exceed 40%.
