Polarisation characteristics of a travelling-wave-type semiconductor laser amplifier
Abstract
The gain sensitivity of a traveling-wave-type AlGaAs semiconductor laser amplifier to the input signal polarization state is reported. The ratio of TM to TE gain coefficients is estimated to be 0.85, and a gain difference of about 2 dB is measured for a TE of about 19 dB. In addition, for gain values higher than 15 dB, the amplifier is slightly resonant.
