The calculation of some laminar flows using various discretisation schemes
Abstract
The upwind, hybrid and quadratic finite difference schemes are evaluated for the case of various laminar two-dimensional flows. Two new forms of the quadratic formulation which always generate positive influence coefficients are presented for a uniform grid distribution and tested by reference to hybrid and upwind scheme results as well as other data. The two novel schemes are found to be stable, and the solutions obtained are equal to, or better than, those of the other schemes. New formulations of the novel schemes are given in a form that may be readily implemented by existing computer codes.
