Electrification of comets by solar corpuscular fluxes
Abstract
The paper examines the interaction of the solid component of comets with solar corpuscular fluxes in extremal conditions of high translational or thermal energy or conditions of the breakdown of solar-flux quasi-neutrality. It is shown that the electrification of cometary dust particles in such conditions can lead to the disintegration of these particles by electrostatic forces. Changes in the photometric and dynamic characteristics of cometary heads and dust tails can also result.
