Dynamic effects of the angular asymmetry of stellar motions in galaxies
Abstract
Consideration is given to a differentially rotating (infinitely thin) disk galaxy with small nonaxisymmetric perturbations. An attempt is made to determine how the dynamics of the small perturbations is affected by the angular asymmetry of the background distribution. It is shown that this asymmetry leads to additional dynamic effects, the suppression of the drift-rotational instability of high-frequency nonaxisymmetric perturbations being a possibility.
