Diffusion induced instability in injection lasers
Abstract
A simple model is presented for the rate equations which yields, in the small signal case, useful approximations for the growth-rate and stability conditions. The laser secular equation for the complex angular frequency is solved approximately and it is shown that temporal instabilities may occur in a region where the ratio of the laser stripewidth to the diffusion length is between 0.5 and 4.0.
