On gaseous disks in Seyfert 1 nuclei
Abstract
Implications of the suggestion that the broad-line component of a Seyfert 1 nucleus arises in a rotating disk whose plane is orthogonal to that of the parent galaxy are considered. Observed line widths would be expected to decrease, and their dispersion about the mean relation to increase, with increasing inclination of the parent galaxy
