Discovery and spectrophotometry of high-redshift quasars.
Abstract
The discovery of 30 high-redshift quasars that were detected by the Curtis Schmidt technique is reported, along with spectrophotometric observations of the objects. Spectrophotometric observations of 23 other quasars are also discussed. The redshift distribution for 35 quasars is analyzed, ten unusual quasars are examined, and Lyman limit observations are described for 17 quasars. Reddening effects in 22 quasars are investigated. A search for correlations between quasar properties is conducted, and it is found that the 18 known quasars with very high redshifts (z greater than 2.7) are probably characterized by unusually narrow lines.
