Calculation of cosmic ray antiproton-proton ratio
Abstract
The conflicting results obtained by the independently conducted antiproton-to-proton ratio calculations of Gaisser and Maurer (1973) and Badhwar et al (1975) have obscured the interpretation of recent cosmic ray antiproton measurements. The apparent differences between the two calculations have been resolved upon detailed reexamination, showing that the Gaisser and Maurer calculation was essentially correct. It is demonstrated that the reported antiproton fluxes are higher than expected for secondary antiprotons in conventional models of cosmic ray propagation, as has been indicated by other recent calculations.
