The vulnerability of high quality sound signals to transmission errors and methods of protection
Abstract
Methods for the protection of high quality digital sound signals against transmission errors are evaluated, and a procedure is developed for the subjective evaluation of the vulnerability of high quality digital sound signals to transmission errors. Degradation is studied as a function of the weights of erroneous binary elements in a sample. It is found that the most effective techniques for the detection of errors and for masking utilize interpolation methods.
