Radiation of periodic arrays with conductors and dielectrics
Abstract
A numerical method is developed for analyzing the electromagnetic behavior of dielectric radome panels which are very large in comparison to the wavelength and can be considered as an infinite and plane array of dielectric cylinders that are illuminated by a plane wave. These cylinders can have any cross section and can include metallic wires. A system of linear equations is obtained by the application of potential vectors, which is then used to determine the conduction currents on the metallic wire and the displacement currents in the dielectric cylinders. Poisson summations are used to explicitly calculate the integrals relative to the displacement currents over the square or rectangular domains, and the transmission coefficient of the array is calculated. The numerical method produces results in good agreement with experimental values.
