The distinction between Seyfert 1 and Seyfert 2 galaxies
Abstract
The activity of the nuclei of Seyfert 1 galaxies could represent two-temperature disk-type accretion onto a supermassive black hole, while the activity in Seyfert 2 nuclei would correspond to the accretion regime of an optically thin disk. The parameters of such a disk are evaluated. Seyfert 2 nuclei should generate an X-ray luminosity Lx = 10 to the 42nd to 10 to the 43rd erg/sec, the flux declining exponentially with energy for (h)(nu) not less than approximately 10 keV.
