Calculation of the H-alpha profile at bright points in flares
Abstract
The H-alpha profile at bright points in solar flares is calculated using a model obtained on the basis of gasdynamic calculations. Events of different intensity were examined. For moderate-intensity events, it was found that the flare emission should 'drown' the absorption line. For powerful flares, it was found that the central intensity can reach values three times greater than the intensity of the nearby continuum, with significant broadening of the profile at the points of entry of the source with a time-dependent velocity. The anomalous width of the H-alpha adn H-beta lines in the most powerful events is found to be associated with a hypothetical rising jet of dense cool gas.
