Radiation view factors by finite elements
Abstract
Gaussian quadrature integration is employed, together with finite element geometries, to calculate view factors in radiative heat transfer problems. Examples are worked out in the form of linear isoparameteric elements and a two-point Gaussian quadrature, demonstrating the highest accuracy with parallel surfaces. Finite element mapping is shown to provide convergence with irregular surfaces.
