Abstract
Formulas required for the reduction of lunar occultations of stars are presented and used to treat the occultation of 57 Orionis. A method for calculating the object profile is presented and the influence of noise is discussed. Fresnel bending is used in the treatment of the intensity curve for the occultation. The results obtained cannot be explained by the data published in the literature.
