Absolute ultraviolet fluxes of elliptical galaxies as observed with the Astronomical Netherlands Satellite /ANS/
Abstract
Results are presented for ultraviolet (2200 and 3300 A) photometry of 13 elliptical galaxies with the ANS. The results obtained for two and four of the galaxies, respectively, are compared with the results obtained for the same galaxies with the OAO 2 and IUE satellites. The data are shown to support the idea that the ultraviolet light of elliptical galaxies is due to blue horizontal-branch stars.
