Development of experiments in conjunction with industry: Instrument for solar spectroscopy on board Spacelab
Abstract
A Spacelab experiment that measures solar flux in the spectra 170 to 3200 nm was developed. Instrument design stresses high temporal stability. The monochromator, the detectors and the clock system are described. The development program is reviewed, including procurement decision criteria. Quality control procedures for the various subcontractors are summarized. Space qualification standards are given and system integration is outlined.
