Interactions between large-scale coherent structures and fine-grained turbulence in free shear flows
Abstract
The review focuses on practical ways of modeling a large-scale structure and its interaction with fine-grained turbulence. The discussion covers averaging and the basic equations, numerical solution for the Kelvin-Helmholtz wave developing in a shear flow with fine-grained turbulence, an approximate description of the round, turbulent jet problem, and agglomeration of large-scale structures and subharmonic formation.
