Advanced development of particle-beam-probe diagnostic systems
Abstract
Technological improvements made on the ENTOR and ALEX diagnostic systems are reviewed. The effect of the reinstallation of the heavy ion beam probe system on the RENTOR Tokamak is described. Use of the heavy neutral beam probe system on the ALEX baseball facility to measure space potential in minimum-B geometry is evaluated. Data obtained from the TMX beam probe system are discussed. New ion sources and extraction configurations were investigated. Off line processing techniques for beam probe data are evaluated. The development of high energy probing beams and the design of cross over sweep systems are reported.
