Radio frequency monitoring of generators
Abstract
The development of turbine-generator on-line diagnostics through the monitoring of a generator's neutral radio frequency current employing an on-line radio frequency monitor is discussed. A current transformer with a frequency response of 30 Hz to 30 MHz is used to measure radio frequency current flow in the generators neutral lead. Test techniques, simulation tests of generator arcing, field measurement of radio frequency spectra, and continuous fixed frequency monitoring are discussed.
