Anomalous resistivity and plasma dynamics
Abstract
The concept of anomalous resistivity and the calculation of amomalous transport turbulent wave spectra are reviewed. The dynamics of turbulence associated with field aligned currents due to electron runaway and formation of potential structures are discussed for ion sound, ion cyclotron and Buneman instabilities, and related turbulence, to develop methods for a realistic incorporation of the microscopic physics into global models of plasma evolution. Possible methods for reducing the complexity of a realistic model are considered based on experience with turbulent heating and shock waves.
