Analogue television tests

Tests involving a single television program/transponder and two television program/transponder were carried out on OTS in order to check the performance of the European Communication Satellite (ECS) against the criteria of users. Exact simulation of ECS was not possible, but results for single program, color video signals, a high quality sound signal, teletext and 625 line test signals indicate that performance should be adequate. Adjacent channel interference tests show that, under normal conditions, user requirements should be met 99% of the time. Cochannel interference should be minimal if the transponders with orthogonal polarization are offset by 35 MHz. Two programs/transponder performance is inadequate.
