Japanese domestic TDMA system
Abstract
This paper reviews three TDMA systems which have been developed at NTT for domestic use. The first system, called TDMA-60M system, is for constructing a variable channel capacity network between the eight major cities in Japan using the 30/20 GHz band. The second system, called TDMA-100M system, is for providing remote island communication links for simultaneous transmission of voice and color television signals using the 6/4 GHz band. These two TDMA systems will initiate commercial operation by using the Communication Satellite-2 (CS-2) to be launched in 1983. The third system has been developed for the second generation domestic satellite communication system. Small earth stations will be installed in customer premises and will transmit data signals of various bit rates ranging from 6.4 kb/s to 6.3 Mb/s in demand assignment mode using the 30/20 GHz band.
