Mitelnet - A private network using TDMA
Abstract
The 'Mitelnet' private satellite network is structured as a fully interconnected mesh network in which all stations operate in TDMA mode, and connections between any pair of stations can be made dynamically. A reference site in the network provides synchronization for the transmission bursts of all nonreference sites, specifying the time slots in which each should send and receive. This allows data from a given site to be sent to any other site in the network via a single loop. The terminals employed are composed of an IF/RF subsystem, which includes the earth station antenna and low noise amplifier, power amplifier and frequency converters, and a digital processing subsystem that includes control software and the network's digital baseband hardware.
