Performance of light-emitting diodes under hydrostatic pressure
Abstract
The effect of hydrostatic pressure on two types of light-emitting diodes is presented. Emission characteristics and source-to-optical-fiber coupling performance were examined under conditions which simulate those found in a fluid-filled, pressure-equalizing enclosure. Minimal changes in either emission or coupling characteristics were observed at pressures up to 10,000 psi.
