Can magnetic refrigerators liquefy hydrogen at high efficiency
Abstract
A concept for a hydrogen liquefier based on the magnetocaloric effect is introduced. A second-law analysis of the general device is described. The calculation predicts that efficiencies approximately 50% of Carnot are probable. A brief comparison to gas refrigeration systems is made.
