Developments in the procedure for numerical computation of multi-phase-flow phenomena with inter-phase slip, unequal temperatures, et cetera
Abstract
Developments in and additions to the inter-phase-slip algorithm, IPSA are reviewed. A fully symmetrical volume-fraction equation was adopted. The treatment of stratified-flow and particle-packing problems was unified. A donor-acceptor version was developed. Applications with interphase heat and mass transfer were successfully made. A simple technique for the approximate calculation of the mass-transfer-influenced particle-size distribution was devised. Preliminary thought was given to the incorporation of turbulent mixing, based on new hypotheses.
