One-dimensional unsteady two-phase flows with interphase slip: A numerical study
Abstract
A demonstration is made of the application of the IPSA algorithm to the numerical computation of the unsteady motion of two fluids contained in a single duct. Both fluids are incompressible; and both the dispersed and gravity-stratified configurations are considered. It is shown that the finite-difference versions of the differential equations are easily soluble, where comparisons can be made, computations made with sufficiently fine grids are accurate, elsewhere, the solutions are always plausible, and the major source of inaccuracy is false diffusion.
