New approaches to the solution of hydrodynamic problems by the Monte Carlo method
Abstract
The paper examines new approaches to the solution of problems of the kinetic theory of gases by the Monte Carlo method. It is shown that the usual assumptions of kinetic theory provide for a relationship between the Metropolis method and the Boltzmann equation. This makes it possible to develop a simple numerical Monte Carlo procedure for solving the Boltzmann equation.
