A rapid estimation of near Earth satellite lifetimes with quasi-dynamic atmosphere model with application to a proposed Brazilian satellite
Abstract
A method to estimate the orbital lifetime of near Earth satellites using the small perturbation theory is presented. A quasidynamic atmospheric model is used by employing a different exospheric temperature every three months. The drag coefficient is calculated using kinetic theory. The results are validated by applying to several known satellites and comparison with the actual lifetime is very good. The method is then applied to a proposed Brazilian Satellite.
