Particle behaviour in flows and suitable particles for LDA measurements
Abstract
The light scattering characteristics and the aerodynamic behavior of particles in laser anemometry are discussed. Particle size requirements are analyzed. A rigorous analysis is restricted to spherical particles, useful and reliable criteria are obtainable in a variety of flow situations. Particle generators for producing suitably sized, solid or liquid particles in an appropriate concentration are discussed. Techniques for introducing the particle into the flow are also considered. Methods to control and measure the sizes of the generated particles are presented.
