Optical systems in laser anemometry
Abstract
The basic principles of laser velocimetry and especially the most widely used optical set up, the fringe velocimeter, are described. The various means to determine the velocity sign are reviewed: their utilization in a velocimeter allows to study highly turbulent flows, separated, and recirculation zones. The optical components making up one, two, and three dimensional laser velocimeters are described. It is explained why two focus velocimeters are advantageous for turbomachines experiments.
