An improved solar antenna measurement system
Abstract
Instrumentation has been developed to perform onsight measurements of radar antennas utilizing the sun as a microwave radiation source. Although solar radiation has been used for antenna testing for many years, the utility of previous techniques was limited. This solar antenna measurement system is an automated unit that represents an improvement over previous devices. It utilizes the radar in the passive mode while processing and recording the antenna solar response as a function of the sun's known position. Measured antenna response data are presented.
