CCD implementation of a matrix manipulator processor
Abstract
It is noted that a correlator which uses a combination of CCDs and digital shift registers for the multiplication of a variable vector by a matrix with constant elements can be easily extended to the multiplication of two matrices with variable elements. A number of configurations based on the programmable correlator are presented. A comparison is made between processing time and required hardware for these configurations. The serialparallel configuration is found to be the most advantageous. Matrix inversion is shown to be practicable using the same type of device, but only for loworder matrices.
