Comparing transponder nonlinearity effects on SFSK and MSK
Abstract
In this paper, bit error rate performances of MSK and SFSK systems with both matched-filter and sampling-type detectors were studied in a satellite communication channel environment. It was found that SFSK outperforms MSK when the link consists of transmitter bandlimiting, transponder hardlimiting and subsequent receiver bandlimiting, with white Gaussian noise sources included in both up and down links.
