Power and bandwidth efficient ISI and jitter free /IJF/ transmission techniques for linear and nonlinear channels
Abstract
The spectral properties and P(e) performance of intersymbol interference and jitter-free (IJF) signals are presented. It is shown that the power spectral density of the IJF baseband signals can be expressed in terms of the Fourier transform of a double interval even pulse. This result enables the determination of optimum pulse shapes, for use as IJF signals, with steep spectral roll-off and minimum out-of-band energy. The results show that these IJF signals have significant spectral advantages over the NRZ signal. A modified offset-keyed quadrature phase shift keying modulation technique using these IJF signals is also proposed and investigated.
