Baseband adaptive equalization for a 16 QAM system in the presence of multipath propagation
Abstract
It has been shown theoretically that a decision feedback equalizer (DFE) with only a small number of taps could be highly efficient in the presence of multipath fading (simulated by a two-path model). A breadboard model has been constructed and associated with a 140 Mb/s 16 QAM modem. Experiments involving the insertion of a fade simulator showed the compensation produced by the equalizer, which was able to correct strong amplitude and delay distortions.
