Adaptive feed control in completely overlapped subarray antennas
Abstract
The nulling potential of the completely overlapped subarray antenna is examined. An illumination taper is placed across the feed beam ports to achieve the low sidelobe level desired for the antenna radiation pattern. Control of the pattern at the output of the feed is more desirable than control at the main array, since working with fewer elements is cost effective; the multiple beam properties of the Rotman lens also present advantages. An implementation of the adaptive nulling concept is discussed, and its associated error analysis is presented.
