Fourier transform-iteration for antenna pattern synthesis
Abstract
A method for the synthesis of antenna patterns is developed in which a specified beam is approached by Fourier transform-iteration under the condition of retaining the side lobe level below its allowable level. It is found that this method is suitable for the simultaneous synthesis of the modulus and the phase of the pattern. The method is particularly effective for a smaller aperture and the case of narrower shaped beams. While the side lobe level will rise somewhat during the process of iteration, it can be maintained below its allowable value by means of adjusting the necessary parameters as required, and the design can be readily completed with the use of a computer.
