Beamshaping of sectoral and pyramidal horns with stepped amplitude distribution
Abstract
The effects of a nonbinomial aperture area division, with an arbitrary aperture field distribution of the three-section horn are investigated. As a model antenna, for both the sectoral and pyramidal horn, a rectangular aperture antenna with a uniform phase field is used. In addition, a similar model with five parts is used to study the five-part antenna, with the two amplitude factors being the variable parameters. For all of the antennas studied, the gain and radiation pattern functions are derived in terms of normalized angle and two variable parameters. Several typical diagrams of these functions are presented and can be used as guides in the design of the horns. Experimental results for a model three-section horn are given and compared with the theoretical results.
