Models of the ionospheric D region at noon
Abstract
New models of the ionospheric D region are presented for equinox and winter noon and compared with other models, including the original summer model of Bain and Harrison (1972). The new models provide satisfactory results for propagation at frequencies below 100 kHz, although all tests are for distances less than 1000 km. For the frequencies investigated, the proposed models are much more accurate than any other existing models.
