Research on aerosols in a shock wave tube
Abstract
It is shown that dispersed aerosol particles stay in suspension so long that they can be handled inside a shock wave tube. The aerosol and acoustic waves are analytically described, along with the structure of the weak shock waves and fully dispersed waves. An aerosol is used to experimentally study the spread of strong and weak pressure waves in the aerosol, the particles of which are generally between 0.5 and 10 microns in dimension, with an occasional case of larger particles.
